run by the community, for the community
When the community re-opened the shop in March 2009, it was without the sub-post office that had run there for many years. Despite full efforts by the committee and a last-minute appeal to the highest level at Post Office Ltd, the official decision was that as the sub-post office had been closed for more than two years it would not be reinstated.

Not to be deterred from offering such a vital service, and after a bit of research, the shop now has its own Post Point, which enables residents to send letters and parcels nationally and internationally, with special delivery and recorded delivery available. It is one of a tiny handful of shops in the country to offer such a service, and we have designed our own logo for this, which we are happy to offer free of charge to other up-and-coming community shops.
This is a service offered to the community and it is paid for by the shop's profits. The shop has a business collection contract with Royal Mail and the post is collected every weekday at 4.15pm. The first two Christmases have proved to be very busy for the Post Point, with parcels being sent far and wide! Local residents love the convenience it offers.

Donations to the shop to help fund this service are always welcome.
