run by the community, for the community
Authorised by the Financial Services Authority Reg. No. 30434R
The Shop at Strood Green is run by a committee of volunteers. Many other people in the local area support the shop voluntarily, either by working shifts in the shop or by working behind the scenes in a variety of roles. Jane Holmes, one of the original committee members who worked to establish the shop, is one of two full-time managers, and the shop benefits from her outstanding customer service background, local knowledge and her total commitment to the project. She shares the running of the shop with manager Christine Nolan, who has brought to the project a fantastic amount of catering experience and is an organiser extraordinaire! The two managers cover the almost-80 hours the shop is open, and are ably assisted by a team of part-time members of staff and volunteers.
We are a registered Industrial and Provident Society and the management committee (maximum eight members) is appointed annually at its AGM by the shareholders of the Association (currently numbering approx 450).
